Wellness Exams & Preventative Care
At Mountain View Veterinary Clinic we believe that routine wellness visits and preventative care are a great way to help your pet live a healthy life for as long as possible. Regular checkups for your pet can seriously reduce the risk of illness and disease and can lead to early diagnosis and treatment of potential problems. Besides a comprehensive yearly physical, a wellness exam may include services such as vaccinations, diagnostic screening tests (blood, fecal and urine tests) and parasite prevention. Our veterinarians will help you choose the best preventative care option for your pet’s lifestyle.

Puppy and Kitten Care
Getting a new puppy or kitten is very exciting. You have a lot to look forward to. The great companionship that a good pet can bring is very rewarding. However, puppies and kittens come with a lot of responsibility and work. Here at Mountain View Veterinary Clinic, we are here to help you with your new addition.
First, you should always bring your new puppy or kitten in for a full nose-to-tail examination to make sure that you have a healthy new animal. You also want to get him or her familiar with our veterinary hospital.

Surgery
We are pleased to offer our clients the highest quality veterinary care. At Mountain View Veterinary Clinic we are equipped for a broad range of surgical procedures. We offer routine surgeries which include spays, neuter, and growth removals. Our veterinarians also offer non- routine soft tissue surgeries like gastrointestinal exploration, splenectomy, cystotomy and gastropexy. We require pre-anesthetic blood screening prior to any sedations and general
anesthetics. The option for pre-anesthetic ECG screening is available and the results are read directly by a board-certified cardiologist. Your pet is monitored by our highly trained staff and equipment during all anesthetics. We also place intravenous catheters and administer intravenous fluids on all anesthetic procedures.

C-Section
We are highly skilled when it comes to c-sections for breeds such as English Bulldogs, Frenchies and Pugs. These breeds have large heads that can become stuck in the mother’s birth canal.
Over 80% of bulldog litters are delivered by c-section, and because of their body type certain breeds will typically need a c-section to give birth, or whelp.
That’s why we are proud to have expert surgeons who are knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to performing c-sections on these breeds. As a pet owner you want the best for your pet, and that is what our surgeons provide.

Dental Care
Mountain View Veterinary Clinic offers full anesthetic dental evaluations and cleanings. Once your pet is anesthetized, we will perform dental radiographs. This gives us a full picture of your pet’s mouth by allowing us to see below the gum line. Once full mouth radiographs are acquired, a comprehensive oral examination is performed where every tooth is probed and evaluated. The doctor can then evaluate what your pet needs going forward with the cleaning.
All our dentistry procedures include intravenous fluid therapy, pain medication and antibiotics.

Onsite Diagnostics
Mountain View Veterinary Clinic has a fully equipped in-house laboratory. We have chemistry, CBC and urinalysis machines for the same day results. Having these advanced diagnostic tools allows us to examine specific areas more carefully and provide a quicker and more accurate diagnosis. We also offer bloodwork at a local diagnostic laboratory and specialized testing as
needed.

Advanced Digital X-rays
At Mountain View Veterinary Clinic our staff is highly trained and equipped to acquire high quality radiographic images of your pet. Digital radiographs are a valuable diagnostic tool that we use to look inside the body in an entirely non-invasive way. It helps veterinarians detect and prevent illness. Mountain View also works closely with a board-certified radiologist that is available for interpretation of images.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a quick and painless procedure that uses soundwaves to allow us to see inside your pet. We are pleased to be able to offer full abdominal ultrasounds with a board-certified radiologist that can perform the procedure at our hospital for your convenience.

Emergency and Urgent Care
Emergencies can be things such as toxin ingestion, cesarean sections, car accidents, vomiting or diarrhea for more than 24 hours or extreme lethargy.
Late night or weekend/holiday emergencies are best handled by the Emergency Veterinary Hospital of CDA or Emergency Pet Care in Post Falls where they are fully staffed all night and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. You can access their website from the links below:
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our staff will work to “squeeze” you in between scheduled appointments. We also offer drop off appointments if it’s easier for you to leave your pet with us for a few hours to accommodate your schedule.

Vaccinations
At Mountain View Veterinary Clinic in Hayden, ID , we believe that one of the most important aspects of caring for your pet’s health is vaccinating him or her against possible diseases. There are a variety of diseases which affect our pets, and other animals, so proper vaccination is vital to protecting them from many types of illnesses.
It is important to consult with us about the unique risks of living in our region. We will be happy to discuss the benefits of protecting your pet with vaccinations, as well as, provide you with information on the required vaccinations for your pet.

Hospice and Euthanasia
Saying goodbye to your pet can be extremely difficult. The process can be emotionally and mentally draining. We don’t want you to be alone at the end stages of a pets’ life, and we promise to do everything we can to make it easier on you and your pet. Most of all, we promise to treat each case with compassionate and understanding care.
Knowing when the time is right can be a difficult choice. There are many factors that go into deciding to euthanize a pet, and it is a personal issue that differs from pet owner to pet owner. But every pet owner is inevitably faced with making that tough decision, and we want to be there alongside you to aid in any way we can.
If you have special requests, please let us know and we will be sure to accommodate them. Dealing with the end of a pets’ life is never easy, but we want to do whatever we can to make the process less difficult.
